ABJ: Vecino building apartments in Albany, over objections
Missiouri-based Vecino Group bought property at the rear of the former Armory Garage and plans to build affordable apartments there, despite objections from neighbors, the Albany Business Journal says. Called Freedom Springs, the $60 million project feature would include up to five floors and 187 apartments and amenities such as a fitness room and large patio. Rents would be aimed at people earning 50% to 80% of the area median income and would offer special benefits to homeless- or at-risk veterans.
