Business news from around the region…
ABR: Retired RPI professor seeking Solar boat production space
Retired Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute professor David Borton, is looking to produce his solar-powered boats in New York State, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. Borton’s company currently manufactures the solar-powered boats (they are not plug-in electric, but solar-powered) in Florida and finishes them in Maine. First, he must create the market for them.
[Editor’s Note: In the pictures, the bow looks a bit like a classic Chesapeake Bay crabber. At the same time, they look a bit like the old-timey steamboat launches popular in the Adirondacks. However, instead of a green-and-white-striped canvas top, they have a hard top with solar panels affixed to it. To read a bit more about other electric boats, click here.]
