P-S: Queensbury medical plant not a risk yet, says EPA
A facility in Queensbury that sterilizes medical equipment with ethylene oxide does not yet pose a significant health risk to people living nearby, the Environmental Protection Agency told residents via a Microsoft Teams remote meeting. People gathered at the Kingsbury Volunteer Hose Co. in Hudson Falls to participate in the Teams call. According to a story in the Post-Star, the Sterigenics facility uses the chemical ethylene oxide, or EtO, but is not yet over the current limits set for air-borne emissions. The EPA is looking to change regulations as it reconsiders how much risk EtO presents at current levels.
