ABJ: Soaring costs may ground propellers
The manufacturing plant at the Port of Albany may be scuttled by material costs, the Albany Business Journal is reporting. The plant would be the first in the nation to construct offshore wind towers, but materials have doubled in price over original projections, leaving the developers $300 million short, the story says. Developers and others involved are looking toward Gov. Kathy Hochul and legislators to provide some relief in this year’s budget.
