Adirondack Glass closing. Building under contract.
Adirondack Glass, the longtime Glens Falls business with deep roots in the East End, is closing after 77 years. Jimmy Del Signore and Jimmy Mazza have owned the family business since 1985.
“It’s time,” Del Signore, 77, said. “We’re getting old. We’re tired and neither of us has family members interested in taking over.”
Mazza said there has been a steady decline in business over the last 15 years, and “we’ve both had heart issues.” Mazza is 67.
Earlier this month, the two men listed the 189-191 Maple Street — three adjoining buildings totaling about 6,300 square feet — for $429,000.
“We were under contract within a week,” Mazza said. He declined to disclose the sale price, but did say it was “close” to the asking price.
