ABR: Beta testing of “Apron” app in Saratoga Springs
New York State law forbids front-of-house staff, such as bartenders and waitstaff, to share their tips with the kitchen, even though both groups work harder on busy, big-tip nights. A new app “Apron” offers restaurant patrons a chance to tip people in the back off the house, the chefs, cooks and other kitchen staff, and the developer is testing it in Saratoga Springs, the Albany Business Review says. Henry Street Taproom and Seneca both in downtown Saratoga Springs are testing the app along with five other restaurants. Garnet River, the developer, says it will help with attracting and retaining the best kitchen staff, the story says.
